The Origin The Founder started her work as a way to give Womyn of African Descent and Womyn of Color the first Womyn of Color East Coast Music Festival in 1993, since other festivals were so European in style and not fulfilling the cultural needs of multi-cultural Womyn. As a result, The Founder created the Womyn of Color Tent, which exists at several festivals today. The Womyn of Color Tent gave a voice to multi-cultural Womyn and provided a space where they could meet to share songs, drum, and discuss issues vital to them. Out of this historic event was birthed Circle of Voices, Inc. |

The Mission Circle of Voices, Inc. provides opportunities to foster a collaborative and supportive environment where Womyn artists and friends of the community can have the opportunity to increase their appreciation of the arts through performances, seminars and workshops given by Womyn of African Descent and Womyn of Color. We believe in utilizing art as a means of expression for a variety of community concerns such as the importance of recycling, the green environment initiative, HIV/AIDS, and more. Performers affiliated with Circle of Voices, Inc. use their art forms to convey issues of significance that speak to the souls of the community at large. |
